Hey so my job expects me to stay hours later than they schedule me almost every shift. I work at a movie theater and the reason I need to stay late is because the expect me to continue ringing out customers past close. Last week was especially bad with us having to stay nearly three hours late and one of the managers literally said I'm not allowed to close or leave an hour past closing time and at the exact time i was scheduled for. I live in an at will state so they can fire me for any reason but if i can get a recording of them saying that again do you think it would be safer to just leave when my shift ends?
This is kind of an issue especially last week because my partner was on vacation and i needed to feed the cat, who had to wait 5 hours past his usual dinner time because of the weird hours they gave me. more generally though I cant find work closer or at a better job because i was unemployed during covid and now suddenly don't have enough experience again and O need more time to work on my art project so i want my job to respect my time without risking getting fired.
