So I work in self storage and our market is crazy. Prices go with the housing market so you can imagine that ours have gone sky high. The company shitncanned the old District Manager (DM) due to some petty policy and I knew at this point I should prolly be on alert.
As the now ranking/senior person in market his (DM) old job fell to me while being supported remotely by our Regional Manager. So hiring, training and holding together this team while still running my own store during the pandemic was very very very stressful. I asked for a raise, knowing that I was currently being paid under market value for my position.
Their response? We know the market, you’re being paid more then others in your position. We will give you a 2k bonus (taxed down to 1200) and our thanks.
Currently job hunting on the clock because fuck these guys. Being overworked and underpaid sucks. What happened to appreciating your employees?
