I just got scolded because I din’t wish happy borthday to the owner.

So, this just happened a few minutes ago. I got called by the manager and she asked me the reason why I din't wish happy birthday yesterday to the owner (apparently I was the only one who didn't do it), to which I replied ''I didn't even know it was her birthday yesterday''. I don't even know her and I've been working here for a year, she hasn't come down to my desk not even once, our only communication has been through my manager who is always reedirecting her messages to my department, so to me it was no surprise that I didn't even know her birthday date. But my manager told me that it was not ok, that I had to send her an email wishing happy birthday and apologizing for not doing it yesterday!.

Apparently there is a newsletter which is circled around every week with all the birthdays and all that, but I'm not subscribed to it because they required the email address to be my personal, to which I gave my work email which filters these kind of newsletters as SPAM by default. Manager was in shock when I said this, she told me that it wasn't very nice from me, that we are a family and all that bullshit.

I told her back ''if we are such a close family, how's it that I've never ever seen her not even once'', because she gets to the building through a ''backdoor'' which only high profiles use in order to avoid conglomerations in common areas. She even has her own elevator, which can only be accesed through said backdoor and only a handful of people has authorization to use it.

Manager just gaggled a bit, told me that it wasn't very friendly of me and that I wasn't a true team player and all that HR bullshit. Just told me to send the email before lunchbreak today.

I sent the email, addressed to the owner and manager. ''Happy birthday'' was the subject, with nothing else but a image from google that said ''Happy Birthday'' and that's it.

I'm planning on hearing more about this later today, will probably update if I can remember the password I used for this throwaway account lol.
