I just need to vent, there was a huge fire next to where I work, just directly across the street. I was working by myself – it’s like one of those paint and sip situations – and people showed up anyway? The street was sectioned off but folks literally were acting like nothing was happening. I couldn’t get a hold of the owner or manager, the wifi was down (which meant the pos was down and we’re card only so I wouldn’t be able to take payments anyway) so I just went with my gut and closed up shop. I took the time to give everyone a glass of water before kicking them out, doing some pertinent closing duties and locking up. I feel like I’m on a a completely different planet than these people!
By the time I got home I was connected to a signal again, and my boss called to tell me he didn’t relive me so I cost him a lot of money. I told him I had to make a decision and the business next door closed too. He absolutely didn’t care, didn’t ask if I was ok, was just pissed at me. I don’t even want to go back today it makes me so sick that small business owners are worse than corporations sometimes… my car’s siding literally melted and my throat is sore from the smoke but lol it’s really important to paint some expensive pictures I GUESS
