Split shift

I work in care across several homes, my shifts include sleepovers where I will start at 1.30, finish 11pm, sleepover then work 8-2 the next day. My new rota has me working 9.30-10.30 on one morning before a sleepover shift to drive a service user somewhere. I queried this and was told it was correct due to “needs of the business”! We have never worked split shifts in all the years I have worked there and there's no mention of it in our contract either. Also appears as if I am the only one being asked to do this, can I refuse?
