“9 to 5” is a lie

I'm sick of this “9 to 5” or “40 hours week” slogan. Here in Germany it does not include lunch break. Even worse, my company has a horrible cantine and so we have to walk to another spot to get food, which takes an hour in total. So all in all I stay at work 45 hours a week and barely have time to do anything outside of work at all. My company further doesn't give a shit about our wellbeing. We have “social rooms” that look like shit. We don't get any foods or drinks for free. We don't even have a proper coffee machine. And how am I supposed to meal-prep/prepare food everyday if I don't have lots of free time in the first place? Just wanted to get this off my chest. These kind of things should be regulated. There should be a minimum of food/drinks provided…

Just wanted to get this off my chest. These kind of things should be regulated. There should be a minimum of food/drinks provided and some national authority should be checking the “well-being” factors in every company. I'm still surprised at how states don't weigh mental health as much as physical health. It's like mental health is the absolute bottleneck of our society and this is precisely why there is so much physical disease in the first place. If ALL companies only understood that mental health is directly proportional to a companies financial gains all of us would be far better off.
