Strict employer pto request off policy

Hello all! I am just seeing if anyone has had a similar experience or has any advice. I work from home. I reside in Pennsylvania and my employer is out of Florida. Recently my employer has implemented a new policy: Only one person can request off in a department on the same day. We are advised to check the department calendar before submitting a request. If we see one other person has requested off, including the managers, then we are not going to be approved. I am currently 30 weeks pregnant. My OB appts are every 2 weeks now and then every single week once I am 36 weeks. My OB/GYN only sees OB patients on Thursdays. I only request off 1.5 hours for my appointments.

However, my last two appointment requests have been denied because someone else has requested off already.

My upcoming request was denied because a girl who is not officially in our department but helps us out requested off. She is not even on the department calendar for us to check. My manager let me know my request was denied. And put in the group chat we now need to PM her after we check the calendar to see if that girl (or the three other people that also helps us out) requested off first.

It is super frustrating because I need to go to these appointments and my employer cannot spare me 1.5 hours to make sure myself and the baby are healthy? It is actually starting to piss me off lol. I guess I don’t really have a specific question. I’m just ranting lol.
