I'm not sure how to approach this because lots of stuff is going on in my life right now and I don't know if I'm rushing things so I'm here for help and to vent.
So I started at this new place after accepting the role at the end of may this year. I was waiting for a security pass to join up until last Tuesday when I started. I had a decent job at Costco but the late sporadic shifts were getting to me. Now I'm by no means well educated since I only did college but I'm definitely not stupid. I learn fast and like to think my potential shows really well, I hope this doesn't sound like I'm projecting too much but here we go.
So before I started I had to deal with a guy who I'll call Steve now Steve was alright to deal with but he was as incompetent with a computer as you'd expect a 5 year old to be with days going by between responses and having me come into the office unpaid to provide me info. The first day comes around on the Tuesday just after the bank holiday and I have my induction, now at this point I've already done 2 online inductions unpaid totaling 4-5 hours. I'm given useless drivel about the company with no policy info or how to do my job. Steve does this slow PowerPoint induction with a woman called Juliet, on a break mid day I walk around the local park with Steve and another new hire, Steve then proceeds to bitch about Juliet for 30 minutes. We come back finish off and they send me home early because there's no point in me learning anything for the last hour.
I think I'm dragging this out more than I need to so I'll just fire off the things that have happened since my induction.
Day 2: get told I shouldn't be wearing my own boots because they don't conform to their standards and proceed to blame me for not their error in ordering the wrong size of safety shoe and force me to wear a size and a half smaller for two days. The same day I get told I'm being confrontational by the ops manager for asking a peer why we couldn't refuse a delivery of work that we couldn't process, I was told I shouldn't ask questions when I don't know the processes which I hadn't been provided (I still don't have access for these untill they provide me with a work email).day 3 I get told I'm rude by another member of staff for not enthusicaly saying good morning to the ops director. Day 4 I'm 10 minutes late (first time in my working career) due to unexpected traffic a 25 minute drive turned into 45. I go straight to the ops manager and apologize, she says “well it won't happen again”. Meanwhile other staff are also only just getting into work wear. She then proceeds to gossip for 20 minutes while I get into work.
Day 5 being the Monday I've brought in my own size conforming to the CE and ISO standards they tell me I'm still not allowed to wear them because they ordered the half size smaller which are too tight. Found out Steve backdated a form I signed saying I've received my correct PPE.
Tuesday 6th day I get into my motorbike gear 5 minutes before the end of day while everyone else is logging off and the managers are leaving.
Wednesday 7th day they say I can only get ready when everyone is leaving even if I've done all of my work. I spend more than half of my day doing nothing because the work is only 3 days a week in reality.
All of this in a regulated industry where people aren't supposed to save their passwords or write them on post-its stickered to their PC's but they do.
Absolutely pointless job but now I have no retreat besides Uber which is low pay and agency work.
My girlfriend broke up with me on Thursday because she doesn't feel anything anymore apparently so I had to collect everything and had Friday off to wollow in myself. I know I've pretty much just thrown most things at you all but and either help or encouragement would be appreciated.
