I work retail at wally world, have been there for just over a year now and while i was on my break i went to go check my schedule for the following week.
For as long as ive worked there my availibility has been 11am to 11pm and has never changed, its like this because i dont own a car/drivers license, and dont own a bike because i cant be bothered to bike to work, so my only method of transportation is the city bus. Problem is that the earliest bus that comes near my area (Still a 20 minute walk from my house) doesnt come around until nearly 9:30 and doesnt get me to my stop until around 10. And takes me around another 15 minutes to walk to work.
So on a good day ill be at work sometime between 10:20 to 10:30 and so to be safe ive put my availibility at 11. Recently the stores system reset my availibility as its been a full year, and my manager who knows ive never started a shift earlier than 10:30 in emergancies decided that they were going to schedule me for 7am opening shifts practically all week without talking to me. When i confronted them about the shifts they even said they thought it was weird and still went ahead with it. Ive gone ahead and put in my availibility again but it wont take effect until october 3rd.
Ive told them i physically cant work these shifts until at least 10:30 and they told me it was up to me to find coverage. Is that allowed or is there something i can actually do about it outside of just not showing up?
