Physically forced to stay at work after clocking out

This didn’t happen to me, I witnessed it. I work at a grocery store stocking shelves and receiving. Yesterday I came for my morning shift at 7:00 am. There’s a night shift from 10:30 to 7:00. The night shift guys are leaving when I arrive. “Jacob, please face aisles 3 and 4” I heard on the intercom at 7:01. The night shift manager rushes in front of him to the door and puts himself in a starfish position, physically blocking the exit. Eventually, Jacob goes back, and spends about a half hour facing aisle 3 and 4 off the clock.

I know that facing each aisle is the standard expectation for the end of the shift, but this seems ridiculous.
