This looks like wrongful termination or just employer being a jerk.

A friend of mine requested a vacation, per company policy, 1 month prior. Received approval. Scheduled it, bought non-refundable tickets, ordered hotels. About 3 days before he's due to fly, his boss comes up to him and says they have “no coverage” for his position for the scheduled dates. My friend said “OK, reimburse my flights and hotel and I'll stay”. Never mind he was flying to meet his relatives overseas who probably made travel arrangements, as well. The boss refused. My friend went anyway. When he got back he was approached by his boss and told “your position is terminated”. Lost A LOT more than those tickets cost. Does anyone know if something like this would be actionable against the employer in court? Like “wrongful termination”?
