Raise taken back

My boss called me a couple weeks ago and let me know I was getting a raise. Usually only get them after year end reviews so this was unexpected. Not a huge raise but I was happy enough. Got an unexpected meeting request from HR earlier today. They explained it there was an error and I wasn’t supposed to get a raise so they are moving me back to my old rate. WTF
