Ok not quite 2 years, 20 months to be exact. But basically, my fiancé wants her best friend from work and another friend of ours who works at the same store (who is a photographer as a side hustle and will be our wedding photographer) to come to our destination wedding. We just announced it to our friends and family since we’re doing a destination wedding, we wanted to give everyone the proper amount of time to save and plan accordingly.
My boss (at my brand new job, mind you) said absolutely, no problem, we’ll figure it out. It’s two years away almost, don’t worry about it.
Her boss, of nearly 10 years, is adamant that the store simply cannot function with all three of them gone at the same time. So he’s told them two of you can go, but not 3.
I’m furious. Lol There is absolutely no good reason why this can’t happen. It’s 20 months away, she’s given a decade of her life to this company (which isn’t a small company, there’s probably 3000 employees in North America), to flat out say absolutely not, this far out, is spiteful in my opinion and people like him are the reason people leave companies.
Do your fucking job, be a leader, and help your team. Pull people in from other stores, hire more people, _work the week yourself_… whatever the solution is, but if I were the manager in this situation, it’s – no problem! Enjoy your wedding, you deserve it.
