Got a new manager and I don't have a good feeling about this. A co-worker got promoted and I think this is their first management gig. My previous managers have pretty much left me alone but provided all the necessary support I asked for. No questions about time off. I put in sick time off for 3 days in Oct since my partner has a medical procedure scheduled and I am the only caregiver. I got an email asking me why I'm using sick time for planned absence since sick time is usually unplanned. I explained and they responded with “I approve this request”. Like really, I'm telling you I'm taking time off not asking for approval. I have close to 200 hours of sick time and over 150 hrs of vacation time. Got an email inviting me to a team retreat for team building and discussion regarding clarity of roles next month. There have been zero issues with team relationships and collaboration. I am a full-grown adult who knows how to play in teams. I've consistently received exceptional ratings in my formal reviews. This is also a fully remote position, I am covering the work of 3 people and just have a tonne of things to do! I just needed to rant!
