I got a raise!

Yesterday, my boss gave me an $8,000 a year raise. I live in a very expensive area so it’s still mid-level pay but I started out at minimum wage for the area and my wages have increased by roughly $10 an hour within two years. I know this is an anti work sub and I generally agree with all the sentiments shared here but I’m excited and didn’t know where else to share this. I work for a very small company and have never felt so appreciated as an employee in my life. It’s anecdotal, but my advice would be to work for a small local company if you like the owner. I’m not a high roller, but if you’re like me and only have experience in retail and restaurants- it may be a good option to look into. Not that either of those things are bad jobs, but you get stuck into those roles generally without the option for greater pay.
