Ethical Retirement

So I am starting to wonder if there is any ethical way to plan for retirement. In our current system it seems like the only chance one has at any semblance of a decent life beyond the point where one is capable of working is through some kind of investing. Be it securities, commodities, or real estate. Of course ethically all of these options are unacceptable. It would be great if I could bank my retirement on our society doing a full 180 flip, but that seems like a long shot. As someone with a rare genetic disorder, the thought of aging without access to my very necessary medical maintenance is terrifying. Does anyone here have advice for ethically planning for retirement?
