This happened a few years ago, but has bothered me ever since.

Used to be the Maintenance manager for a McDonald's. That is a fancy way of saying I picked up trash in the parking lot for a living. The people who throw their trash out are some of the worst humans. Especially those who see you cleaning up a mess, and decide to add to it by chucking their trash in your direction while looking you straight in the eye. When I first started I would rush over and fuss, but after two years of this shit I simply couldn't be bothered anymore and just walked away to another area until they left. One memorable moment, guy kept specifically dropping things out the window of his work van just to make me come over and pick it up. When I first started I would rush over and fuss, but after two years of this shit I simply couldn't be bothered anymore and just walked away to another area until they left.

One memorable moment, guy kept specifically dropping things out the window of his work van just to make me come over and pick it up. He was being a real jackass about it, calling me names and insulting me because of my job. During all this I never said a word, just swept it up and left until he threw something else out and I would come get it and leave again While he is doing this the passenger sleeping in the other seat wakes up, realises what is going on, gets really really mad, gets out and stomps around to where I'm standing, takes the trash bag out of my hand and dumps half of it on the ground. He then makes the driver get out and pick all the trash up with his hands. When the driver refused, it turned out the passenger was the company owner for the van they were driving and threatened to fire him on the spot. Dude picked up every piece of trash in that area, Including everything from cigarette butts to half eaten burgers.

The owner of the van apologized to me. On the down side, my manager who watched the entire thing unfold through the restaurant window decided to write me up because I didn't step in and not let the shitty guy pick up the trash. I refused to sign and was sent home, I went back to work the next day as the franchise owner opted to change the manager to a different shift instead of uphold the write-up.

I left shortly after this.
