Antiwork

I hate living in a world where I need to explain to my employer that money is the only incentive to do more than the bare minimum.

I went to my HR department with complaints/concerns about my company, and talked about how my wages have barely increased, even though I do 200% of the job requirements. I explained that verbal validation isn't enough to keep me going above and beyond because my pay is not reflective of my work. She then asked me “well other than pay increase, what would make you feel appreciated enough to want to continue giving 200%?” My response? “I hate to be materialistic, however this is my job and the whole purpose of it is to pay my bills. So I don't know if anything else would help.”
