Switching to another team internally – is it a smart move/how to do it?

Hi all 🙂 I started a new corporate job about 6 months ago, and about a month in my manager and a few colleagues quit, leaving us pretty understaffed. The big boss started the hiring process but clearly lacks agility and has no clear vision of the team's future structure. The whole team is very unhappy and the environment is becoming toxic. Now, a position opened up in another internal team within the same department, and I want to apply. I know the manager and colleagues there, and the team has been known as a well-organized unit where employees are often rewarded and promoted. My only worry is – how do I go about applying since my current boss and colleagues all know the other team? Is it too early to do it after only 6 months (even though I have relevant experience for that role)? Will it be seen negatively…

Hi all 🙂

I started a new corporate job about 6 months ago, and about a month in my manager and a few colleagues quit, leaving us pretty understaffed.

Will it be seen negatively and as a “betrayal” to my already understaffed team?

Personally, I couldn't care less what anyone will think of me, I am just afraid it might backfire and make my office days insufferable. Thank you for any advice!

Edit: I don't want to change companies as I am pretty happy with the current one, it's just that my specific team sucks. Also salary and benefits are pretty good
