Quitting a job I haven’t even started yet.

I (23M) got hired at a chain pet store earlier this month. They offered me $11.25 an hour, which isn’t great but not terrible in my area, for a part time side gig while I’m going back to school. Communication, thus far, hasn’t been great and I’ve already been accused of one no-call no-show when I’m not supposed to start until tomorrow, 9/18. Yesterday, my wife (22F) and I were in a local video game store just looking around and I remembered that I had applied a month prior. The manager looked me up in his system, and after, he hired me on the spot because he liked my energy. Needless to say, I was excited because working at a game store is much more aligned with my interests and my skill set than working at a pet store.

I would be taking a $1/hr pay cut, compared to the pet store, but I value my mental health more than $1/hr.

Now, to the quitting part. I have already taken the offer for the video game store, and am now figuring out how to go about handling the pet store job. My wife feels that I should call the pet store and tell them I’m not coming in to work any of my scheduled shifts. I personally don’t find that necessary as they have already been kinda shitty to me, I really don’t want to chance them still requiring me to pay for my uniform, and, from the sounds of it, they didn’t plan to properly train me at all.

So, I’m asking Reddit. Should I call pet store and quit, or should I just ghost them?

EDIT: I do not have an email or text message contact. The only way that I can quit, if I were to do so, is to call the pet store location directly and talk to whichever supervisor is on duty.
