I (21F) am South Asian and I work in a cafe in London. London is very multicultural compared to the rest of the uk but the cafe I work in has a lot of middle class, old white customers. Today I got yelled at by 3 white women and they wanted to file a complaint to my manager, specifically about me. They were very rude, ill mannered, impatient and extremely entitled.
I am the only member of staff that is a person of colour. My coworkers were also treated badly by these same customers. But no way in the same level I was treated.
Customers pick arguments with all of us but I do get worse treatment sometimes and I'm finally starting to notice.
This was the first time I really started to think “Is it because I'm not white?” I don't want to just jump to conclusions but I'm genuinely starting to think that my race is starting to piss off middle aged and old white people.
