My management company, run by Hasidic Jews, is known for discriminating against Black/poc applicants. Now they have turned my building into a guarantor-only building, jacked up the rent, and are only bringing in college-aged tenants whose parents likely pay their rent.
I have to add a new roommate to my lease and they’ve been denied twice, even with reasonable income and credit. The second time they had their mother apply as guarantor. She’s a judge and makes good money. Apparently that application was denied. They are also using a BROKER, which is totally insane because me and my current roommate already live here. Why would they need one?? (Can anyone attest to this?)
When I called my management company, the point of contact told me that if I wanted to choose who I live with, then this is how it’s going to go. Her tone indicated something eerily uncomfortable. We’re three queer people living together and I do not trust Hasidic Jews to separate their personal beliefs from their business methods.
They have been pointedly horrible the whole time I’ve lived here and I can’t afford to move. Time is running out because they keep denying a totally valid applicant.
