The 5 day 40 hour week

I’m fairly sure anyone who participates in this sub is aware of why and how this became standard, and that it was meant for households where one adult took care of the home full time. I know we’ve seen some movement away from it in progressive areas and companies, but not on a large scale. I’m in the US, fwiw. And we’re the worst when it comes to work life balance, labor laws, worker protections, the list could go on and on…. Do you all think the movement away from the 8hour/5 day workweek will catch on in any significant way? Or are we chained to this life-draining schedule forever?
