Requiring unpaid “training” days.

Just a quick rant about a sandwich / cafe and their general fuckery. So there’s a sandwhich shop/ cafe franchise here. A thing they do each year in their shopping centre store coming up to Christmas infuriates me. They get lots of CVs and job applications for the holiday period. They contact the applicants, do a quick over the phone interview and then invite them in for a “unpaid training day” which is typically 6 hours (12-6pm the busiest time). They bring a couple of would be employees in each day, give them an hour training and then exploit them by having them cleaning / making sandwiches for the rest of the shift. In the end they offer shite pay and hours so the employee doesn’t take the job. They are known for doing it for years and the selfish **** are probably saving a fortune on labour for the…

They are known for doing it for years and the selfish **** are probably saving a fortune on labour for the entire month of December by exploiting young people. They get away with it because the people just move on and think it’s not worth following up for the sake of a few hours pay.
