I have literally nothing to do at work…

I'm a foreman for a construction subcontractor. I run work for small to medium sized projects. I recently finished up my most recent project a couple of weeks ago. I was supposed to roll right into the next project which my office had been telling me about for a few weeks. However, at the last minute as the customer was finalizing contracts the customer realized this project was going to cost WAY more than they had budgeted. The project got put on indefinite hold while they redesign and probably relocate to a smaller building. None of this was the fault of my company in the slightest, but we had been planning on this project occupying me for well over a year and taking up to 15-20 other workers at the peak manpower. Well, with this project falling through my company has nothing for me to work on. Typically if a foreman doesn't have a jobsite to go to for a day or two (if a project is closed for whatever reason, usually, or if you're planning before the next project gets started) we go to the office where they have some cubicles set up and we can catch up on paperwork, planning, etc. Except I don't have any project to work on. The last one was closed out and I don't have a next one.

This has been going on for almost a month now. They give me some small 1-2 day projects here and there, but nowhere near enough to occupy all my time. I mostly just spend the day browsing Reddit and trying to look busy. I've asked for something to do several times but nobody has any work for me. My biggest problem is that I need to apply my time to a job cost code, which means I have to be able to show I was working on something, but I have nothing to work on….

I'm grateful AF that my company isn't just sending me home without a paycheck until they have something for me, but gods dammit this is boring and stressful trying to appear busy without having anything to do.

Anyways. Just trying to kill some time while sitting at this stupid desk for 8 hours. Wish I could “work” from home…
