My ex-employer’s payroll lady accidentally paid me twice, didn’t notice for two months.

Hi, I am from canada. This summer, I had quit my job due to such a negative toxic work environment and work culture. Well, thankfully when I requested to be paid all monies owed to me they did not reject. However, they had to pay me the next pay period after that because I had worked like 2-3 shifts before quitting. Turns out, the payroll lady had mistakenly paid me twice for those shifts. It was only $132. But, she had failed to notice her mistake until 2 MONTHS later. Ever since then, she has been sending me emails that literally go along the lines of “Hello, I accidentally paid you twice please send e-transfer thanks” When I told my dad about this, he got really mad and told me that I should tell my ex-employer to go fuck themselves. He said that it was their mistake, and I’m not…

When I told my dad about this, he got really mad and told me that I should tell my ex-employer to go fuck themselves. He said that it was their mistake, and I’m not obligated to help them fix it. Though, I trust my dad, he is an operations manager so I’d like to think he knows what he’s talking about… I can’t help but feel a bit anxious. If I continue to ignore my ex-employers request for the $132 back, could I possibly end up in some kind of trouble?

(One of my issues abt returning the money is that, they had not noticed this mistake for so long. And at this point, I’ve clearly already spent the money. I feel that it’s unfair of them, they should have been more competent and notified me almost immediately. I don’t really want to have to pay them back, out of my own pocket.)
