Inquiring about someone’s use of time …

More of a question that requires background info. A coworker is best friends with upper management in my place of work. They regularly get special treatment. They are now not showing up to work at all or showing up late and their upper management best friend covers for them all the time. Is there a way to find out if they are using time off like they’re supposed to? We are currently not a hybrid office, so every day is a required office day. Also, using gender neutral pronouns. Sorry for any confusion that may cause.
