Antiwork

I’m being taken advantage of and it’s making me hate my job.

I started working a job that required me to check-in, screen, and schedule patients for visits. My first day was five months ago. About two months in I was helping get Medicare Certifications signed on top of everything else. At less than five months in I was training for the Referrals Coordinator position as the person who was in it got a promotion in a different department. I am now the referrals coordinator for my facility. While I am grateful for getting to learn these things because they are very tangibly in the field I am studying and going into…. I'm stressed. I don't have any help. I had a horrible workman's comp company call and threaten to close a case in a few days if I don't get a doctor at a different facility to sign a paper. My problems: 1.) While I am grateful for getting to learn these things because they are very tangibly in the field I am studying and going into…. I'm stressed. I don't have any help. I had a horrible workman's comp company call and threaten to close a case in a few days if I don't get a doctor at a different facility to sign a paper.

My problems:
1.) I have literally no support. I don't have anyone above me that is versed in what I'm doing so they can't help me. Denials happen every three months as rules change, and there's no one to help navigate them.

2.) I'm per diem and choose to work only 14 hours a week at this job as I'm working 12 hours a week at another, and going to school full-time. I can never stay on top of what needs to be done, and while it's nice to be busy the entire time, it's also frustrating because I don't have all of the clearances I need to be effective. A lot of my time is eaten up on hold for insurance companies.

I am in a union. I could go to my union rep to talk about these things, but I don't think it will change anything. My immediate boss is the union rep for my workplace, but not the overall regional rep.
