I've never been fired or let go before. I'm so upset and don't know what to do. I have been working for a city for about two years. I have worked my ass off for them doing my job and in the last two months doing someone else's job. They got fired for not doing their job. I cleaned up six months worth of their undone work and am almost done.
Monday I got called into my bosses office and told that my position with the city has been eliminated and my employment is terminated at the end of the month. They said if a position comes available, they will let me know and I can reapply.
I spent five years after moving here bouncing around part time jobs to make ends meet and finally found this job. Full time, benefits, sick and vacation pay, retirement…I don't want to go through all that again. It is so hard to find full time work here.
I don't even know if I would reapply if something came available because they could just do this again. But I also feel that might be a bad move since I know they would rehire me. All my bosses I have worked for here have loved the work I do. But I'm getting tossed out like trash. I feel used and so angry.
I have already started the hunt for a new job since I have to. But it's so demoralizing.
