I work as a water treatment operator, and the on call is becoming near torture.
Right when I’m falling asleep, I get called out, taking multiple hours, then I have to work the regular 8 hour day, plus on call again, for 7 days strait, then work another 5 off call!! After 12 strait days of work, I finally get 2 days of rest.
I’ve started calling in on days I’ve gotten no sleep, but then all the overtime hours I worked are worth nothing
I get paid $40k per year for all of this by the way.
I cant handle it, and I’m not getting calls back for other jobs, and I don’t know what to do. it’s ruining my life, and my fiancé is starting to notice at home too.
I’m a slave to my mortgage and bills and can’t quit, I feel so miserable and defeated.
