I recently went to McDonalds to meet a friend for breakfast. We went and placed our order at the counter like usual, (fuck the kiosks!) and when asked what we wanted to drink I told the lady I would get a fountain drink. She replied the soda fountain was no longer working in the lobby and we had to order from her. My friend commented, “Covid is over, open up the machines!.” We got our drinks and waited for our order. The manager brought it out shortly and went on to tell us that the drink machines were not down because of Covid but because McDonalds was phasing them out nationwide. He went on to tell us that they were also phasing out free refills nationwide as well.
As we were leaving my friend wanted a refill (since they are still allowed). They then proceeded to tell him they couldn't give him a refill but actually got a new cup and everything!
I haven't been a fan of theirs in a long time but I can see that this will not end well.
