Why can’t companies work with someone on a person to person basis?

I feel I am a great employee. Always on time, works hard and listens actively, I take many note from meetings and coaching, I support others and share any new info on the job I know, but I have a down fall. I have been dealing with colitis for 6 months, still waiting on the final diagnosis due to me having a high deductible. I’m newly married(3rd year in) with a 2 year old daughter, so money is not in abundance. I just wish my employer ( 3rd job since April) would understand it’s a process for me, I provide all documents going to the ER to help with symptoms but until I have enough for my colonoscopy, I only have colitis from the ER, and that’s not enough. I have bloody diarrhea and sharp pain in my side and I’m about to get fired from my current job, luckily…
