I work at a hippie co op where a third of workers don’t wear a name tag or a shirt/sweatshirt. Managers also don’t always wear these. I mostly never wear a name tag or a piece of identifying clothing bc this is not a corporate company it’s a co op.
Most ppl I work with are lazy and I often feel like I do their work for them but I still am talked down to for not wearing a name tag…
I am ALWAYS doing work and no one has ever been confused if I’m an employee, I’m pushing a cart and unloading products. They have a separate set of employees specifically for customer service, I don’t need to be so identifiable, I have shit to do.
I HATE when I have been talked down to for it. If I were simply asked hey we gotta wear name tags could you go get yours? I’d go do it. Sure I disagree with it but I’d do it.
But the couple times I’ve been told recently it was a fake overly friendly “ hey! “ “ so you reaally need to wear your name tag and since your not you could at least wear an apron or something okay? Haha thaaank you”
Like oh ok literally NEVER say hello to me and then act fake as hell just so you can be condescending to me? They’re not even my manager they’re in charge of an entirely different department.. why do they even fucking care so much? Makes me want to quit honestly bc I think that’s some corporate garbage and I’m holding a lot of my department together and yet I’m talked down to like this over petty shit so ppl can feel a pathetic power trip. I can quit and you will be fucked for a while to find a replacement bc every time I take time off it goes to shit
