Anyone Else’s Workplace Spotlight Them For “Good work” And Then Tear Them Down Immediately After?

Like… This keeps happening to me. I come in today, there's a thank you card on my desk from the big boss for being a solid line of communication for all departments. Then I get torn to shreds for asking for the same break length as our partners (they get an hour. We get half an hour. I also handle all their records and ours, help their patients, handle all the imaging and labs, and run the front end for urgent care). I offered to break it up, too, so we wouldn't be away from the front for an hour. I also got slammed for writing in my therapy journal when all my work is done. Yep.

Yep. Slammed for writing in a journal or my planner. Not for being on my phone. Not for wandering around the building. Not for sleeping at my desk. For writing. For organization and therapy. A girl in our neighboring department vapes at her desk, it's an open secret lol but fuck me, right?

I'm most upset by having my journal taken away because it really helped quell my anxiety. My job is high stress because it's healthcare and even though we're just an urgent care, people come in dying all the time. It fucking sucks. So, when it was slow and quiet, I'd let out my thoughts on paper. Nothing detailed. Just emotions and fears.

I've been trying to reduce stress at this job but it really, really feels like they want it to be a terrible place to work. They want you to feel unappreciated. They want you to feel stressed and worn out. They don't want you to feel comfortable or happy.

I'm not sure why. But yet, here we are.
