Bad actors using the reputation and power of GEICO to discriminate!

I now understand why Anitwork works! As a worker who spent more than 20 years in the corporate world. As a worker who spent more than 20 years in the corporate world. After a number of WTF experiences, I see it is a gamble to dedicate yourself to a career that can be extinguished just because – fill in the blank-.9

10 years of working at GEICO to earn a living, doing work I not only enjoyed; but was good ended abruptly and without warning earlier this year.

My career and my colleagues were second to none! I made a difference in my role as often as opportunities presented themselves.

My former boss is very smart. We worked well together, minus the fact that she OFTEN offered advice on a specific topic, that I did not ask for.

Nearly a year after she retired, I was terminated after participating in protected activities. During an ambush/impromptu Zoom meeting set moments before my lunch the HR rep sat on a couch, (allegedly) in her parents home in New York, on vacation and the Director of my section (who I had limited contact with since being reassigned under her Directorate) began making false statements to me about me, that It’s clear you’re unhappy…. and because of your refusal to do assigned work you are being let go. Stunned, I tried telling her that both of her statements were false and asked what is my recourse under the circumstances. Only to be cut off by her stating “there is no recourse the decision is final! All of my benefits ceased that day at midnight. I didn’t even have time to refill a standing refill without paying full price.

I submitted 3 separate incidents with documentation to 3 separate regulatory agencies. The DC Office of Human Rights, of the 3 was the most professional and the most organized. His questions were impartial and respectful and relevant. Opposed to one of the earlier EEOC investigators literally saying “It’s hard to believe this” (clearly that’s what they are counting on) and, I AGREE, but yet and still here we are.

There is no way ANYONE should feel the level of distress I felt when making a request for a reasonable accommodation with the “HUMAN RESOURCES” management with a company the size of GEICO. I spent more Company money ordering lunch for one meeting than it cost for one of the possible accommodation and the other was free. Despite meeting with them to answer specific questions about my disability proving 3 doctors notes at their demand, within 7-days or HR would consider the matter closed. Yet, it took them nearly a year to decide to provide a viable accommodation that cost nothing.

As an individual, I am standing up to a huge corporation whose specific HR & legal representatives after years of discrimination, placing my safety in danger, and ultimately terminating me in retaliation for reporting them to them to external regulatory agencies.

I’m still trying to recover. My medical care ended the day they terminated me. I needed treatment from two specialist who i can no longer see. I refuse to write another shitty thing in the list of shitty things I’ve experienced.

I’m new to the antiwork scene and would appreciate any recommendation anyone has to offer based on my experiences.
