Boss denied doctors appointment 5 weeks in advance

So today I told my boss I needed a day off in 5 weeks because I have a doctors appointment, he said that wasn’t possible because Black Friday is that month and that no employees can get a day off in November or December, I was tempted to say that I wasn’t asking if I could leave, I was letting you know 5 weeks in advance but I didn’t, instead of arguing with him and putting my self in bad light even though I probably have every right to get a day off I was just thinking of calling in sick instead, then I’ll also get paid, part of me really wished I’d said “you either have the choice to give me a day off where it doesn’t cost the company anything, or instead I’ll call in sick and you have to pay me for it” The job is paying…

So today I told my boss I needed a day off in 5 weeks because I have a doctors appointment, he said that wasn’t possible because Black Friday is that month and that no employees can get a day off in November or December, I was tempted to say that I wasn’t asking if I could leave, I was letting you know 5 weeks in advance but I didn’t, instead of arguing with him and putting my self in bad light even though I probably have every right to get a day off I was just thinking of calling in sick instead, then I’ll also get paid, part of me really wished I’d said “you either have the choice to give me a day off where it doesn’t cost the company anything, or instead I’ll call in sick and you have to pay me for it”

The job is paying me decent and considering how things look here in Europe I think it’s hard to find a job at another place, which is essentially why I would just call in sick instead of arguing with him, the company isn’t so big so we don’t have a HR department yet, I could just go to my managers boss but I think he’ll just say the same thing. Idk what do you guys think I should do? Or have you been a similar situation?
