This is obviously UK focused but should also work in the USA as well.
Company trying to make you go back to the office? Working from home for three years with no problems? Employer trying to leverage the recession to bend your arm? Tired of contributing to climate change with damaging emissions for no reason?
With my handy guide, you will never have to attend the office again unless you want to!
- Work in an office.
- Be suffering from stress from working in an office.
- Go to your GP (if you can get an appointment).
- State that you are suffering from stress, and that your symptoms of stress are flaring up whenever you try to attend the office.
- Note that you feel uncomfortable in crowds, driving, on public transport etc.
- Say that your employer is trying to force you to return to the office and the very idea is making you feel ill.
- Get your note which will probably cost you £20.
- Contact your work's HR stating that due to situational stress you cannot attend the office as your work is able to be completed remotely.
- Never attend the office again!
If you ever feel sidelined from promotions, get fired or whatever, and you think that the fact that you do not attend the office has something to do with it… Great! Get your ridiculously large payout for discrimination against people with health conditions.
P.S. I suffer from a non-physical condition that actually means attending the office is very unpleasant for me. I prefer not to bring it up during interviews or during the selection process if I do not have to. I want to normalise the remote working which has proven so beneficial for my life.
P.P.S. If you think this is unethical, please feel free to send me a message. I won't read it, but you're welcome to send one.
