Anyone else had a supervisor tell them “we’re all equals here”?

In the previous two jobs I worked both of the supervisors would tell me how we're all equal on the job and there was no hierarchy . To me this sounded like some serious gaslighting and it couldn't be further from the truth. I mean it was really evident we weren't all equal if you saw the treatment of lower level employees compared to higher-ups, especially if some mistake was made on the job.
