PTO policy of new job making me doubt my decision.

Recently, I left a comfortable, remote job for something onsite and better pay. My last job had great benefits and I liked my team, but the work itself was understimulating and I was not thriving any longer after almost two years. I made frequent mistakes, stopped really caring about the job itself, and I craved a physical location to work at. I had it good for the most part though, just was overall unhappy with everything despite the perks. Recently, I took a new job that’s much better pay, more holidays, and better benefits — but I am not sure I want it anymore after reading the employee handbook after being hired. The PTO policy is something I’ve not heard of in past employment — I do not get PTO until after a year. I had an emergency today and had to take the day off, but I will not get paid. If I have COVID, I will not get paid. If I have a medical appointment, I will not get paid. This is incredibly soul crushing and makes me wish I’d never left the comfortable job, even though that job was slowly eating away at my mental health and overall happiness despite how easy and boring it was.

I’m not entirely sure what to do. Perhaps I’ll adjust to the bullshit. But I don’t want to. I’ve never worked for a company that had this policy. All benefits were given right away including PTO.

I hate capitalism.
