So Canada decided to give all federal employees the day off for the Queen's funeral day, and then left it to the provinces. BC basically said all government employees got the day off paid, and private employers are to do “what they feel is appropriate” for their staff. Like any private employer would say anything other than “it is appropriate for my staff to work”.
Sept 30th was also a day off for government, the Truth and Reconciliation day to reflect on the atrocities of the residential schools.
While I won't comment on whether or not one should have either of the days off, the fact that government workers got the day off while the rest of us had to slave the day away motivates no one.
