Is this a typical request to see in an employee contract? Seems like their asking a bit much!

This is within my employee contract under “conflict of interest” for a digital marketing company. Maybe they should pay more than $55,000 a year if they wont “allow” their employee to make extra income! “During the term of your employment with us, it is understood and agreed that any business opportunity relating to or similar to our current or anticipated business opportunities is an opportunity belonging to our organization. You agree to advise us of the opportunity and cannot pursue the opportunity, directly or indirectly, without our written consent. During the term of your employment with us, you will not, directly or indirectly, engage or participate in any other business activities that we, in our reasonable discretion, determine to be in conflict with our best interests without our written consent.
