Permanent Overtime

This is someone I know dealing with this, and honestly it’s insane what they’re going through. They just started their job last month, and from day one they’ve been put on overtime. It’s overnight work, starting near midnight and ending around 9am. They do make good money, but they’ve been hearing that this company basically has this in place permanently (though they will often flip the hours so sometimes they’ll have to go in earlier or even later). We assume that the company simply doesn’t want to pay for more workers, and I’m worried that they may need to find yet another job because the work they do is causing them a lot of stress. They have already been through around 5 jobs in the past couple years, though only for around a couple months at a time because where we live it’s very difficult to find any place that’s currently hiring for someone who can’t drive anywhere. And each job is physically demanding, they’ve already gotten sick twice and had to quit.

I’m just worried about them, they already deal with health issues and the long hours leave them no time for much else. And they can’t even get accommodations right now, they need to get a doctor’s note to prove they need the extra help but don’t really have time to go see anyone right now. And even if they do make good money from this job, it’s still a struggle to see them always tired and they can still possibly get sick again.
