Told hiring manager that I don’t work for free, received a snarky email back

For context, went through an interview with a coding school, and they asked me to come in to tour the facility and become familiar with how their classes operate (which I explained in full here in another post), which turned into the teacher asking me to help with the class and teach her students, all while I hadn't even been hired yet. It felt like they were trying to trick me into being trained and work for free, so I denied the job offer. The hiring manager went on to respond by defending the process, comparing this to an unpaid “interview” (I had already been through my interview, this was NOT an interview) and essentially said “It could've been worse, some schools make their candidates create and present a lesson unpaid!” Also noticed the manager totally contradicted herself mid email by saying “it's for the potential employee to decide if…
