The guy who trained me worked out a deal where he works remote 3 out of the 5 days a week. I was looking for something similar. I approached my new boss. Considering my responsibilities I’m not needed at the office at all. Unfortunately he offered me up to the ops manager and told him if I was free he could use me for whatever he needed. So when I asked for remote work I was told the most I would get was 1 day and that is IF it got approved. Considering my new responsibilities I’m just needed more in the office. I rebutted that I could still help out on the 2 days id be in the office. I was told that the guy who trained me was in a unique position due to his knowledge and age. Also that they couldn’t create a policy to allow me to have 3 days remote because what if they hired someone else in position and they couldn’t work remote. He said they “couldn’t have two policies for the same position” despite already having 2 policies for the same position. I’m just really done with the situation. Doesn’t help that I’m the only POC in the office and am constantly singled out for being the only “liberal” in the office despite being moderate. I’m getting a bunch of appointments out of the way this week then putting in my two weeks. It’s a good job and I enjoy it but I’m not gonna let it affect my mental health.
