Is it the CEOs, top engineers ( 1% salary is 597K), scientists, surgeons and business owners? The techno-hippies, or the suit wearing elite? For the sake of the argument, lets lump them all in together: so we have only people who earn $597,815 a year. Then where do we separate them? I would argue, in terms of temperament, and brain scans. If that was even possible, if you could look at the brain scans and determine what DNA they have determined for aggression or ambition, and apply that as a filter, you would find a majority of these people in there. Not to the discredit of all the scientists and doctors, engineers, because Reddit loves all things STEM, but even then: How many of those people are in it for a sense of purpose, versus just to make money? I can argue that as a society, some of the highest earning and sometimes most important positions would cease to exist if we got rid of the aggressively minded, psychopathic people. The human mind is very complex, but I wonder if we never had played with fire and evolved, then we would be far less useful and interesting, but less dangerous. Any living organism will demand the will to power, but if natural selection becomes so efficient and there is enough luck (A hospitable atmosphere and planet that is perfect for humans) then a new life will emerge. It will eat and devour everything in its path for resources, feel-good chemicals and instantaneous gratification. It will form large societies, paving over the earth with tar and grayness everywhere the eye can see, so that travel is fast and individualistic is possible. Little regard will be held for the health of the life, because it will have that as a lower priority on their list of needs. Finally, it will forgo risky transit because the metal boxes have been crumpling a fair bit too many of the organism, so they will send electric signals here and there and get satisfaction, in smaller doses from these new boxes. The boxes that transmit information but will cause a drop-off cliff in reproduction because the boxes are too compelling and make them feel safe. That will be what probably happens to this organism. All the while, the most psychopathic breeds of the organism controlled the rest with subversive forms of capture, though some were far less subtle when needed be.
