What the title says. I just had my third interview for a management position. The interviewer said my starting rate was higher than they could afford and then asked me if I knew about state grants for daycare. She said she'd be happy to get me the info, and asked if I was able to get my kid into one of the voucher programs if that would bring my rate down.
A) No.
B-Z) Fuck you.
I know the average salary for management positions in this industry, and that's what I want to be paid. Three interviews in to find out they want to pay the person running their main office just enough to qualify for low income childcare assistance. I left. Now I know why the job was open in the first place.
