I work in Box Office for events and was struggling with managing access for visitors and the site manager wasn't cooperating with me.
We get along well usually, but for the past few times that I was working she was being a bit too strict about the rules.
Like not letting people leave their coat and bags with me where I had some space. This was because we didn't have a cloakroom.
On a different day, I was also trying to help a cleaner for one of tbe companies to access the building, I recognise her and even though we weren't expecting her I thought it would be fine to let her in. The site manager asked for me to communicate that she needs an email confirmation to gain entry. I didn't want to do that as I felt it was unncessary to make someone prove that they're a cleaner for a company specially when she and I recognise each other. I kept trying to get that across over radio and she said that its not possible because she came on the wrong day. I had to deal with other visitors at the same time and got stressed out over this.
We had a chat about this and she asked if I eventually managed to get the person through, I said yes because I told the ppl from the company that I recognised her.
The site manager continued saying how she came on the wrong day and that's why she couldn't get access, I said that I recognise her though so can't she just go in to do a quick job. She was also trying to say that with the security issues in this building etc etc in the past. I was thinking it is a bit much to assume that this person is here to steal or whatever.
So just a bit later I asked if I could go and take a break. I decided to take the evening off and then I left work after 40 minutes, is that wrong of me?
