Non Profit CEO Challenged at Company Townhall

I heard this from one of my former coworkers over the weekend. I used to work at one of the best respiratory hospitals in the country (I left after doing 2.5 people's jobs, didn't get a raise, and then was told I wouldn't be promoted to a position I had already learned). Friend still works there and has been promoted a few times since I left. Recently, there was a townhall meeting. Leading up to this meeting, some employees replied ALL to company wide emails and brought up their pay. No response from upper management. For the townhall, they held one in the morning and one in the afternoon, and also record it so anyone not at work that day can view later.

At the afternoon one, one of the individuals who had been emailing about the pitiful wages sat with his hand up the entire time the CEO spoke. It got to the point where the CEO couldn't ignore him anymore and said “Yes, young man waiting patiently in the back” or some other passive aggressive thing. This dude (who is probably on this sub judging by what he said) stated that he checked the hospital's budget and salary information and wanted to know why the CEO received a bonus of over a $1 million when he can't pay his rent. CEO had to stand up there and was apparently very flustered/uncomfortable and did not have an answer.

And, of course, the zoom link that went out for the townhall meeting later that day was for the recording that didn't include someone challenging the CEO. Unknown if that individual is still employed but I wish him the best.
