I want to preface this by saying that I understand that some people want to feel socially included at work, and there’s no issue with that. However, personally, this statement is particularly off-putting. I feel that I don’t fit in anywhere and most places and when I am forced to remain less anonymous, I feel that people are better able to notice how “strange” I am. Not everyone wants to be part of some community. Some people just want to do the work and go home.
