Antiwork

I have been presented with a nerve-wracking but potentially useful opportunity in my workplace.

I work for a worldwide department store. If you dig in my profile you could find out which. Despite my vicious anti-capitalist opinions, disdain for management, outspoken pro-union chatter, and all of that, I have been selected for what is called a mentorship program, because my managers think I am management material. I might be, if only because I do my fucking job, but that's an aside. In a couple of weeks, we are going out of town to literally scope out competition. The competition is a Costco. In a couple of weeks, we are going out of town to literally scope out competition. The competition is a Costco. After this trip, I will be participating in a video summary of “what I've learned.” I already know that Costco is an infinitely better workplace, that's common knowledge and I want to bring that to the table.

We are all underpaid. My store manager gets huge bonuses because we are one of the highest profiting stores in the market area. I have told him directly to his face that I am not being paid a living wage (15.30) and can barely pay my bills. He doesn't give a shit.

This place is an incredibly toxic work environment but I'm locked into it for a while for personal reasons that aren't important.

So given the fact that I am stuck here, and part of this program (not voluntary, they just told me “hey we picked you for this”) what can I do here to get on top? How do I manipulate this situation to benefit me and my equally enslaved coworkers?

I have not signed any paperwork. I have not signed any NDAs. As best I can tell, I can share everything about this with anyone I want.
